Kings Hill: Blow Up Cinema

As of January 2014, it was decided that the UCA Exhibition would take place at the old radio tower in Kings Hill, Kent. The date has yet to be decided but should take place in the autumn/winter of 2014. Within this exhibition, I will be presenting my idea of a summer film festival for the parish of Kings Hill, which will also have a short supporting animation alongside it. I feel confident that this proposal can eventually be made a reality.

BA Major Project

This animation is my BA (Hons) University Final Major Project submission. Made in after effects, this film supports the physical mental and emotional states of a human being and raises awareness to the benefits of taking up running as a fitness routine, in the hopes that others will be inspired to get outside and change their equilibrium for the better too.

This is purely for educational purposes only. I do also not own the audio track, an instrumental rendition of Imagine Dragons - On top of the World.

The animation has been designed by myself.

Minor Project - CO2 Final Film; Securing our future

Final Minor Project Proposal: Securing our Future

My minor has evolved and developed considerably since the beginning of this project. Originally I planned to look into the post apocalyptic future of our planet and I wanted to show my thoughts on how we would get there and if there is anything we could do about it. What would destroy the human race? At the time my main focus and interest was researching overpopulation and what would happen when the earth reached maximum capacity.

Furthering my research into overpopulation lead to Statistician Professor Hans Rosling and the organisation he has produced over the years; Gapminder. After watching a documentary of Rosling demonstrating how much information we are either unaware of or misinformed by the media, made me decided on my final idea. I would design a film promoting the world of Gapminder and use my own research and data as supporting evidence.

My target audience includes all people who take an interest in the wellbeing of our planet and those who wish to do something about it. Although from the information I have collected and from watching Gapminder and Hans Rosling portray how misinformed we really are, I feel everyone should be made aware of the truth. My aim here for my audience is to promote further research into Gapminder and educate themselves on the statistics of the world. For everything is not as bad as it may appear.

Using adobe after effects to create my final film for this project proved to be difficult and challenging, as I had not used the program for a while but I could not be happier with the outcome. I gathered my audio to support my film from YouTube; Coldplay’s Atlas. However, I found the lyrics to be too distracting from the graphics and information needing to be absorbed from the film. So I instead found an instrumental version of the song, which was attached in after effects. Having finalised my film I feel I now have a much stronger grasp on the mechanics of adobe after effects.

Before I began developing my final film, I experimented with different textures and effects and produced a tunnel sequence that I originally planned to use in my film.
